Abstract

In every age, pride finds a wardrobe suitable for the season. In ours, it often dresses in honorifics, credentials, platforms, and professional symbols that promise significance without crucifixion. This exhortation considers the spiritual psychology of titles and recognition in church, marketplace, academy, workplace, and family life. With parabolic and analogical language, it argues that the modern hunger for “being known” frequently functions as a baptized form of Babel: a name-building project that competes with the name of Christ. Drawing on Scripture’s warnings about self-exaltation and the end-time drift toward image, spectacle, and self-love, this work calls the saints back to hidden obedience, ordinary faithfulness, and rapture readiness. The Bride is not prepared by applause, but by oil.
