Privacy Statement

Last updated: 30 October 2025

Open Christian Press (“we,” “our,” “us”) is committed to safeguarding the personal data entrusted to us. This statement describes how we collect, use, store, and disclose information when you register, submit manuscripts, or simply browse our journals. By continuing to use our platform, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this policy.

1 Information We Collect
During registration or manuscript submission, we ask for your name, institutional affiliation, e-mail address, and, where applicable, ORCID iD and postal details. The system also records technical data—such as IP addresses, browser type, and cookies—needed for security, analytics, and session management.

2 Why We Process Your Data
We process personal data only to (a) manage user accounts, (b) facilitate peer review and editorial correspondence, (c) publish scholarly content, (d) improve site performance, and (e) comply with legal obligations. We never sell or rent your information.

3 Legal Basis
Our primary legal bases are your explicit consent (given when you create an account or submit a manuscript), our legitimate interest in operating an academic journal, and compliance with relevant laws, including the EU GDPR where applicable.

4 Storage and Security
Data are stored on secure servers with industry-standard encryption, strong password policies, and regular backups. Access is limited to authorized editors, reviewers, and technical staff who are bound by confidentiality agreements.

5 Retention
Account data remain active while you maintain an account. Submission records form part of the scholarly record and are retained indefinitely unless removal is required by law. We periodically review inactive accounts and may anonymize or delete them after five years of inactivity.

6 Sharing and Transfers
Personal data are shared only with reviewers, editors, indexing services, or trusted IT providers to the extent necessary for publication and platform maintenance. All third-party processors meet comparable security and privacy standards, and no data are transferred outside your jurisdiction unless adequate safeguards are in place.

7 Cookies
Our site uses session and analytics cookies to streamline navigation and monitor aggregated usage patterns. You may disable cookies in your browser, though some functions may be affected.

8 Your Rights
You may request access to, rectification or erasure of, and restriction or portability of your personal data. You can also withdraw consent at any time or object to certain processing activities. To exercise these rights, contact us at Editor@openchristian.education. We will respond within thirty days.

9 Updates
We may amend this statement to reflect legal or procedural changes. Material modifications will be announced on our homepage and, where feasible, via e-mail.
